SEETHING SCHOOL

SEETHING C. P. SCHOOL

This school house, situated within sight of the church, is constructed from "clay-lump" walls and has a reed thatched roof, making it a unique school structure, as far as we know, in East Anglia. It was purpose built around the middle of the 1800's and the first 'school log' still in existence records events there during the year 1874.

Although it has had in excess of 100 pupils in the past, it currently has 72 children aged from 4 to 11 years old, a head teacher, 2 full time teachers, 2 part time and a number of ancillary staff. Pupils used to come mainly from Seething and Mundham, but increasingly they travel in daily by car from ten or more miles radius.
