Formation Ships
448th Bomb Group, Norfolk, Station 146 Seething, UK.
These distinctive planes were used so the bomb groups could find them to form up, before they left on their mission. With the poor weather conditions often present over East Anglia and so many Bomb Groups all trying to get in correct formation, they were a vital aid for the airmen.
