The Seething control tower was built by John Laing and Sons in 1942 especially for the Americans
The picture to the right shows a general shot of the tower area circled in blue with aircraft and buildings.The photo below left was taken when the tower was in service. Below right shows the tower in a derelict state in 1984, before restoration work started. |

The neglected tower stood at the entrance to the part of the old base owned by the Waveney Flying Group since 1960. It was a sad sight to 448th veterans returning in 1984. |
Under the secretaryship of Min Whitehead there were discussions with the Waveney Flying Group and it was agreed that the tower should be restored. Veterans raised funds for the restoration of the tower. |

Three members of the Waveney Flying Group (Mike Page, Ralph Whitehead and Judy Speed) and two men from Seething (Ron Everson and Jim Turner) worked between 1985 and 1987 to restore the tower using donations from America. |
